Nordic Iron Ore choose Oxelösund’s harbour for shipment of iron ore

Nordic Iron Ore AB (publ) has signed a letter of intent with Oxelösunds Hamn AB for iron ore deliveries of up to 5 million tonnes per year, which meet the expected production volumes when Ludvika Mines reach full production rate towards the end of 2018. Oxelösunds Hamn already has facilities with sufficient capacity to, during the first years, enable storage and shipment of iron ore. The facilities will be developed and expanded over time to meet Nordic Iron Ore’s requirements.

“This is an important part of the on-going work to set up the supply chain ahead of the ore transports from Ludvika Mines, and we are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Oxelösunds Hamn”, says Christer Lindqvist, CEO of Nordic Iron Ore.

An existing national railway network connects the mines and harbour and Nordic Iron Ore is currently engaging with train operators for the procurement of train transportation of the mine products between Ludvika and Oxelösund’s harbour.
